Salvation Testimony of Charles Sale As a child born in 1943 I attended Union Baptist Church in Hamptonville, N.C. In November 1953 I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. The Rev. Bill Byrd was the preacher for the revival. The one person who had the most influence in my life was my grandfather, Rev. Elijah Abraham Wells whom I spent a lot of time with. After I spent a tour in the United States Air Force I became more active in church. some of the positions that I was elected to include the following - youth worker, youth leader, youth superintendent, chairman of the nominating committee. I have bee invited to stand in for the preacher and hold Sunday Services. I am not a member at First Baptist Church of Gold Hill where I am the teacher of the Senior Class. We have up to 51 members. In November our church sent my wife Debra and I on a mission trip to Nicaragua. We assisted Kim Pate at the RCA mission of Evangelism Missions Inc. at the orphanage, feeding kitchens, and Children's Ministries in the established churches. I also worked with a team to wire a warehouse at the La Reforma Baptist Church. We saw a need and God touched our heart. We saw a people hungry for the Word of God. We started talking to people about what we encountered and God started talking with us. We feel that God has called us to work for Him. Charles Sale As I was growing up my grandma would take me to church. I can't remember a time that my Father and Mother ever attended with me. It was on Sunday Morning in April, 1981 I was setting on the second pew. I can't remember the songs they were singing. Pastor Claude Garret was preaching on What Jesus did for us and how much Jesus loves us. It seems like it was the first time that I really heard it. When the Pastor was giving the alter call, I remember making my way to the alter and asking God to forgive me and asking him to be my savior. In 1983 I turned my back on God. I don't understand why God didn't turn His back on me. In 1997 I found my way back to God and I have been serving Him since. There has been some ups and downs, but God has got me through.
