GIVE-LIFT-BLESS-DISTRIBUTE
MATTHEW 14:13-21
"When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities. And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. But Jesus said unto them, they need not depart; give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. He said, Bring them hither to me. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven , he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children."
Praying and seeking God's plan and way to provide for the Orphans and needs of the Orphanage in Nigeria my heart was brought to the story of the five thousand in Matthew 14: 13-21. If the Lord could multiply 5 loaves and two fishes for 5,000 men besides women and children in a desert place then He can provide for the Orphans in Nigeria.
Notice some very important things about the scriptures in Matthew. First, Jesus saw a great multitude in a desert place in need of a Shepherd. A Shepherd is one who takes care of a flock. A Shepherds' duty was to feed the flock, defend the flock from wolves and other wild animals, to take care of the young and feeble, to lead them into green pastures. When Jesus saw the multitudes, ( being the Great Shepherd) He was moved with compassion toward them. Christ compassion is our example for Compassion.
I. Christ compassion is dominated by unconditional Love.
II. Christ compassion is demonstrated by the ultimate Sacrifice.
III. Christ compassion is distributed by unconditional Equality.
Jesus plan was for the disciples to feed the multitude. How could 12 disciples feed 5,000 with just 5 loaves and two fishes. First they brought them to Jesus and Jesus took the 5 loaves and two fishes and lifted them up to the Father and blessed them and gave to the disciples. Here is the great thing the disciples followed Jesus example. He lifted and bless and gave to them, I believe they did likewise and lifted up and blessed and gave to another and another lifted and blessed and gave to another and in no time at all the multitude had their need met.
I was preaching in a weekend mission conference and had asked my wife for a dollar to use as an illustration and she gave me one that had BIG written on it. God can take little and make much. I used the dollar as an example. I give ONE DOLLAR to the Orphanage and I ask twelve friends to give ONE DOLLAR to the orphanage and then the twelve friends ask twelve friends to give ONE DOLLAR. The Lord keeps blessing as Twelve ask Twelve and it keeps multiplying.
